They are clearly the 7th best team at the moment.
And we are trying to cling onto that second group that they are the top of.
Have had a very settled team for the season, think they picked the same 11 for eight or so games in a row at the start.

They deserve a UEFA cup place.

This place is hilarious.

Must be the cold weather, but all the wet knickers on the line have turned HARD.

Do the Wolves have a "project" yet? I hope they do.

Are Wolves the Swansea or the new Southampton?

I live within 20 mins of the custard bowl and their yellow shirt wearing supporters are everywhere around here.

They have endured decades of being shit and I don't begrudge their time in the sun.
Went to the game on Tuesday and though that firework display is rogue firework away from a serious injury claim their support was as loud Ive heard from any home support for a long time.

I still think itll all end in tears though just not this season - they are probably the best team outside of the top 6.

You don't know if their time in the sun is limited, you're just guessing. Outside the top 6 there aint much else that great in the top flight, so there are basically 14 places up for grabs, Wolves could be in the PL for many years now.

They don't have Noble to slow them down

But fair play to them for having a proper go. I like what they are doing.

My point about very expensive elite players coming to Wolves was in response to Northern's point about selling Neves for £100m. All great but a club like Wolves can't attract top level elite players in their prime so having that money is nice but they can't go out spend it on one or two players as those players won't go there. That is a fact.

What standing in the game did Neves have when he went to Wolves. He was a young Portugese player who was a great prospect. They paid £15m for him. And a lot of him going there was because he was coached by Nuno at Porto. Not a lot of people would have heard of Neves before he went to Wolves. So for me he was not an elite player when he went to Wolves. He argueably may be now though.

Moutinho was 32 when he went to Wolves so as good a signing he was and a great a player also he isn't what would be regarded as an elite player and certainly not in his prime. Great signing but most clubs pull those type of signings out the bag every now and then.

Look, I am not slating them or trying to pull them to pieces. But I still stand by what I said and that for clubs like Wolves their time in the sun is limited. Because when Nuno goes as he will he takes a lot with him and so to keep recycling what he is achieving with different coaches is really tough to do no matter super agent you have and what millions you have.

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.
They aren't going to go out and buy elite players for £60m, £70m even £80m because those elite players won't go to Wolves. No disrespect but is a fact.

It's anything but a fact. Which is why a championship club were able to sign Neves despite his standing in the game, and a newly promoted club able to sign Moutinho.

Re: Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.
Russ agreed but the relationship Wolves have with Jorge Mendes is something that hasn't been done in the world of football before. Both a club and a super agent being owned by the same entity with the cross pollination opportunities being the key driver means as long as Mendes is a 'super' agent they will have a better chance of signing quality players than they otherwise would.

So what if they get millions. They aren't going to go out and buy elite players for £60m, £70m even £80m because those elite players won't go to Wolves. No disrespect but is a fact.

So they rely heavily on the manager / coach instilling an identity and system and getting in the right players to play that system. So, as I said, once there Portugese coach goes then there recruitment of a new coach will be fundamental and the liklehood of them getting in another coach that can continue in the same way are very slim.

Then when he goes the other Portugeezers will slip away. And even if they do sell Neves for £100m, as I said, who do they get in to push them on.

I don't mind them and don't wish any bad luck on them but clubs like Wolves only ever have a short time in the sun. They should enjoy it because history tells you that it won't last long.

What a load of nonsense this thread is. This happens all the time with newly promoted clubs who are high on adrenalin and don’t have any particular pressure on them.

Like the way they play football. The get the ball wide and into good areas. Both times we have played them they always looked the much better side on the ball.
